tick tick tick tick tick tick tick

Amidst all the uproar over my cat last week, I’m only just now getting to the long-awaited report by Congress on weapons of mass destruction. The key soundbite: “unless the world community acts decisively and with great urgency, it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013.” The report goes on to say that the most likely source of any nuclear device would be Pakistan, given that they’ve been peddling their nukes in every Central Asian bazaar they can find. If this sounds depressing to you, just imagine how I feel about it:  I live in Washington D.C. (why, I’m not so sure).  My cat remains blissfully unaware of all this, though he would probably welcome any scenario in which mice start to glow.

I have my special chair ready……to bend over and kiss my ass good bye. There is no defense what so ever against ANY type of WMD. Once activated, we’re toast.

Like what? There are a billion nut jobs out there in the world. Plus, throw in the religious fanatics and we’re set for nuclear party time. 3rd World countries have thousands of Jokers…..who just want to see the world burn.

Speaking strickly for myself, the end can come only after I finish seeing the final episodes of Battle Star Galactica.

    Duck and cover….

I won’t disagree that it was the key soundbite the media gravitated towards, but let’s call a spade a spade. This “data’s” insight is for shit. It’s about as good as “predicting” the sun “may rise in the east within the next 5 years.” Really going out on a limb here huh?

This “intelligence” is way too vague to be useful and it feels like a political or money-grabbing posturing move to me.

Here’s a great line: The target could be the US or some other part of the world. Wow! Shit! We better lock down a few more civil rights. Poke a few foreign leaders in their chest and muscle our way into another fight to keep the MIC fully funded.

And Pakistan showing up as the source of the evil doesn’t seem the least bit coincidental. It’s been a long time coming for the US to find a way to get rid of these guys as untrusted allies and with the Mumbai incident pointing towards Pakistan, a report claiming they are the source of weapon sales, and a general lack of cooperation in getting UBL under control, yeah. We’re ready to take it to them next.
